Why does our association need an Internet solution?
The Internet plays an increasingly important role at home, at work and on vacation. Similar to other amenities like color television, cable and telephone service, High-Speed Internet Access will soon be an expectation. Is there a solution for our property?

How will the Internet get to individual units?
Many of the challenges in deploying a High-Speed solution are overcome by the use of new technologies. These new technologies allow us to deploy the Internet in older buildings without the need to rewire. We typically utilize the existing phone lines and use a technique similar to DSL that allows for simultaneous voice and data communications. This solution is also superior to an all-wireless solution, because it offers higher security, faster throughput, and increased reliability. By using these techniques, we can assure that our service will meet the needs of all the homeowners and guests. In addition to our in-unit solution, we can also offer additional services such as Wi-Fi hotspots for common areas, meeting rooms or conference facilities.
How fast will the Internet be in each unit?
Resort Broadband provides Internet connections on a per unit basis. Our baseline speed is 1Mbps per unit, and can be adjusted up to 3Mbps per unit. Each unit is capped at this speed to minimize impact on the speed allocated for other units. This is different from other providers; so don't get fooled by big numbers. Other providers may tout a faster connection speed, but that speed is then shared among all the units on a first come, first served basis.
What makes Resort Broadband different from other providers?
The technology behind the Internet connection is the key to our solution. We employ a Service Manager that not only regulates access to the Internet, but also provides for many other features crucial to guest access. The most important feature is plug and play compatibility. This feature allows virtually any computer to connect to the Internet without the need to make changes to its current setup. Although it may be tempting to charge for it in order to recoup some of the cost of providing the service, research has proven that guests are less likely to use the service if they have to pay for it. If just one vacationer chooses to stay at your unit because of free access, it is likely to pay for the service for an entire year; and, it also increases the likelihood that the guest will return again in the future. In addition, Free High-Speed Internet Access is a powerful marketing tool that could lead to increased bookings.
